Practise Windows Excel shortcuts

What you will practise

The chord changes the active cell or extends the selected range. The grader checks the actual chord effect, not a declared destination.

Focus grid → Ctrl/Shift + arrow, or Ctrl+D

Open Shortcut practice above the worksheet. Read the task, select the requested range and apply the operation to see its actual effect.

First exercise example

Focus the grid and use Ctrl+Right, or the labelled Shortcut practice button.

This example uses the original practice data. Fresh data changes the records; follow the current task.

  2. Exercise 2

  3. Exercise 3

    From A2, practise Shift+Right to select A2:B2.

  4. Exercise 4

  5. Exercise 5

Select E2:E8, then practise Ctrl+D to fill the first formula down with relative references.

Before you check your answer

  • Focus the worksheet. Physical chords work only with the worksheet grid focused. Clicks at a destination alone do not satisfy a shortcut task.
  • Practise the stated chord. These are Windows Excel chords: Ctrl+Right, Ctrl+Down, Shift+Right, Ctrl+Shift+Down and Ctrl+D. Mac Command maps to Ctrl in this practice model.
  • Use the labelled alternative. Shortcut practice buttons apply the same worksheet effect on a phone or Mac. Tapping them does not demonstrate physical keyboard proficiency; Ctrl+D fills the selected range and shifts relative formulas.

How the answer is checked

Apply changes the worksheet; it does not mark an exercise complete. Choose Check worksheet to check the actual operations against the requested configuration and resulting rows, formats, selection, summary or chart. Valid equivalent workflows can pass. Invented source values or a claimed final result cannot replace the operation. Account progress is saved only after the server verifies the same task and access rules.

Use progressive hints when you need help, then try the task again with fresh data. Correctly solving a step opens the next exercise.
